Patrick Thomas Purcell

Patrick Thomas Purcell, age 79 of Burnsville, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at his daughters home in Elysian, following an extended illness.
Patrick Thomas, the son of Edward and A. Ione (Dean) Purcell, was born on October 6, 1937, in Duluth, Minnesota. Following his graduation from high school, Patrick enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and was later honorably discharged after ten years of service. On June 22, 1955, Patrick was united in marriage to Ruth Bonnylyn Emsley in Duluth. Patrick began working for Northwest Airlines in 1966 as a mechanic and later an inspector and manager prior to retiring in 2002. He was very kind person and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his many siblings; and by his son, Michael Purcell.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Bonnylyn of Bursville; his children, Cheryl (Rick) Galewski, Christopher Purcell and Lynn (Jim) Janssen; his two grandchildren, Jennifer and Lisa; his only great grandchild, Mason; his sister, Suzie; and by many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Patricks Life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the American Legion Post 311, 104 East Main Street, Elysian. Private family interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Arrangements are being completed by Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Services ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville.
