Margaret Speckhals April 15, 1932 - September 20, 2011
Margaret A. "Mickey" Speckhals, age 79, of Faribault, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her family, following an extended illness. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Dr., Faribault. Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault. Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Margaret Ann Caron, the daughter of Francis "Frog" and Ruby (Travis) Caron, was born on April 15, 1932 in Faribault. Mickey graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School with the class of 1950. She received her Registered Nurse Degree from Anchor Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Mickey was employed as a surgical nurse at Anchor Hospital and assisted surgeons in pioneering surgery for lung and heart disease. She was united in marriage to Robert Speckhals on October 21, 1955 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Following her marriage, she became a devoted mother of four great children. She was a source of strength, a role model and compassionate mentor for her two girls and two boys. Mickey was a Girl Scout leader, and a member of District One Hospital Auxiliary and Bethlehem Academy Alumni Association. She also was a devoted and longtime member of the Kellar Club. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Speckhals of Faribault; four children, Lynn (Peter) Duane of Edina, Kirk Speckhals of Jackson, WY, Jon (Katie) Speckhals of Faribault, Caron (Buzz) Grinnell of Faribault; seven grandchildren, Sarah Duane, Emily Duane, Heather (Dennis) Miserany, Mary (Brett) Morgan, Luke (Sarah) Speckhals, Matthew Speckhals, and Joel Grinnell; three great grandchildren, Caisen Miserany, and Sydney and Ella Morgan; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and special aunt and uncle, George and Irene Roell. Memorials may be directed to the Faribault Area Hospice in memory of Mickey.
