Lloyd 'Butch' Grobe
LLOYD "BUTCH" GROBE, age 72 of Waterville died on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his home in Waterville surrounded by his family.
Born on November 18, 1944 in Waterville, Minnesota, he was the son of Albert and Bernadine (Musser) Grobe.  He attended school in Waterville and went on to serve in the US Marine Corps.  He married Vicky Atkins in Pennsylvania.  They had three daughters and were later divorced.   He met Jennifer Olson in Deer River and they were married on July 12, 1976 in Watertown, South Dakota.   Butch made his living off the land in Gods Country, trapping fur and leeches in Deer River. They lived there 13 years before returning to Waterville.  Butch drove dump truck off and on for 50 years, most recently for James Bros. until his health forced him to retire.  He also drove the Trinity Lutheran Church bus bringing kids to religion classes.   For 20 years, he held an annual Easter egg hunt and one year had over eight thousand eggs and approximately 100 kids participate.   He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards, playing bingo, and spoiling babies and his grandchildren.   Butch was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Waterville; six daughters, Lori (Darren) Bauer of Waterville, Sheila Hale of Bloomington, Michelle Ungs and fiancé, Tim Slegh of Waterville, Melissa (Tim) Jaspersen of Waterville, Jennie (Jake) Pilgrim of Waseca, and Tamara (Pat) McGuiggan of Waterville; 18 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by siblings, Joan (Bill) Matthes of North Mankato, Ruth Grobe of Kiester, Kurt (Sheila) Grobe of Kiester, and Bruce (Cindy) Grobe of Fayetteville, North Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 4-7 PM and continue on Tuesday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.  Burial will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
