Leonard A. 'Lenny' Vitha
LEONARD A. "LENNY" VITHA, age 67 of Owatonna, died on April 19, 2015 at his home.
Born in Blue Earth on April 24, 1947, Lenny was the son of Albert and Delilah (Webber) Vitha.  As a young man he attended schools in Elmore and Blue Earth before graduating from Frost High School.  After graduation Lenny enlisted in the United States Army, serving two separate tours in Vietnam.  Upon his return to the states he was united in marriage to Mary Cervantes in Blue Earth, MN in April 1971.  He then spent several years in the mid-70s working as a skydiving instructor in Lake Elsinore, California.  Later, in the 1990s, he enlisted in the Army reserves and traveled extensively with his assigned regiment.  Lenny loved flying and had a very difficult time staying on the ground.  He was an accomplished ultralight pilot, and he had earned his "Gold Wings" as a skydiving instructor.  He also had a great love for music, and enjoyed playing drums in several different bands.  He was very proud of his military service, and was a former member of the Blue Earth VFW.
Leonard is survived by two daughters, Melanie Martin of Windom and Julie Halvorson of Westbrook; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two siblings, Lorene (Tony) Nicolazzi of Stockbridge, GA, and Lance (Deb) Vitha of Albert Lea; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
