Joseph Leroy Langley, Jr.

September 2, 1956 — March 6, 2021

JOSEPH LEROY LANGLEY JR., age 64 of Montgomery, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

Born in Minneapolis on September 2, 1956, Joe was the son of Joseph and Joan (Nadeau) Langley. His father died when Joe was young, and his mother remarried Bill Mathis, who went on to raise Joe and his siblings. Joe graduated from Arcadia High School in Phoenix, AZ with the class of 1975.

Joe was a kind and gentle soul… a man of little words and even fewer things. In his younger years, he traveled up and down the west coast following the cherry and apple harvest. Cell phones were not thought of yet, so communication was limited but his mom could always count on him to be home by her birthday in November. He was also known as the unofficial taxi driver of Montgomery as he was always willing to give anyone a ride whether it was below zero or over 100 degrees, often receiving his pay in Pepsi. As always, when he was leaving he would say “I’ll see ya when I see ya”. We will see you soon, Joe. You will be missed by your family and friends.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Willow Gerard-Langley of Tucson, AZ; six siblings, Stephen Langley of Ellensburg, WA, Michael Langley of Surprise, AZ, Rebecca Bigalow of New River, AZ, Barb Edwards of Waterville, MN, Arnold Langley of Hobbs, NM, and Tim Mathis of New River, AZ. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; step-father; paternal grandparents; and maternal grandparents.

No formal services will be held, but private prayers for Joe and his family would be appreciated.
