John Patrick McCarthy, the son of John and Florence (Noble) McCarthy, was born on May 14, 1922 in St. Paul, MN. He attended St. Paul Central High School and graduated with the class of 1940. Following high school Jack attended the University of Minnesota until 1942 when he enlisted into service with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Jack served until 1945 when he was honorably discharged. On November 14, 1946 he was united in marriage to Marilyn "Connie" Widman at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN. After their marriage Jack began a 35 year career as a salesman selling wire rope for U.S. Steel, cover a five state area in the upper Midwest. Jack retired when he was 58 and had the pleasure of spending 32 years enjoying life with Connie. They embraced retirement and got to spend a number of winters in Destin, FL. Being an avid golfer, not only did Jack get to escape the bitter winters of Minnesota but also got to enjoy ample time on the golf course. During the summers Jack and Connie enjoyed their cabin, which was so special

because Jack built the cabin with his own two hands along with family and close friends. The cabin is located near Breezy Point in northern, MN. With all the wonderful friends and family the cabin was a busy place. Jack and Connie enjoyed four children, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren which made summers at the cabin a busy place. When family wasn''t around the cabin, Jack and Connie often entertained their many friends from St. Paul, where they grew up, and/or Bloomington where they raised their children. Let''s just say there was nothing like an evening booze cruise with Jack as the captain on Lake Ossawinnamakee! In 2003 they relocated and started another new chapter of their lives in Faribault at Cardinal Pointe where they have made more wonderful friends. We will miss you Jack!

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Connie McCarthy of Faribault; by four children, Lynn (David) McCarthy-Kopfmann of Prior Lake, MN, Michael (Stacey) McCarthy of Blanchardville, WI, Dennis McCarthy of Los Angeles, CA and Kerry (Marie) McCarthy of Faribault, MN; by 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; by two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Kelly of Detroit Lakes, MN and Mary Widman of Inver Grove Heights, MN and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother William McCarthy.
