James K. Cashin November 1, 1950 - December 12, 2013

James K. Cashin, age 63, of Faribault, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, pastoral minister at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

James Kenneth Cashin was born on November 1, 1950 in Faribault to William and Delores (Prescott) Cashin. He graduated from Bethlehem Academy and was trained in carpentry at the Faribault Vo-Tech. Jim served for a short time in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for many years and was later the manager at Chadderdon Lumber in Faribault. He then worked at the Minnesota State Prison in Faribault teaching wood shop and also Mercury Minnesota. Jim was married to Helen Voegele on July 21, 1973 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. He enjoyed over the road truck driving and worked for Yule Trucking and Michaeltz Trucking. Jim loved old muscle cars, socializing with others, and using his carpentry skills for woodworking projects.

He is survived by his children, Jim (Renee) Saufferer of Owatonna, Bethany Cashin of Faribault, and Matt Cashin (and friend Cassie) of Faribault; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, Dave (Gloria) Cashin of California and Mike (Dixie) Cashin of Faribault; sister, Marie (Dave) Schultz of Cannon Falls; former wife, Helen Voegele of Faribault; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Cashin and Delores Ellerbusch; son, Jay Saufferer; brothers, Russell Cashin, Pat Cashin, Brian Hoiland, Steve Cashin, and brother Gary in infancy; and sister, JoAnn Paro.
