JAMES ARTHUR WINKELMAN, age 93 of St. Clair died on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
Born on June 25, 1928 in Springfield, Minnesota, he was the son of Arthur and Johanna (Apple) Winkelman. Following high school, he attended Bethany College in Mankato. Unable to serve in the military due to health reasons, Jim honored the Navy and all military causes with his many gifts of gratitude. He was united in marriage to Myrna Ann Daby on September 19, 1953 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Clair. Although it was difficult to get away due to the responsibilities of the family business, Winkelman Feed Mill, Jim enjoyed trips going up north to visit friends. He also enjoyed buying and selling cars. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Clair.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna of St. Clair; two sons, Thomas (Melody) Winkelman of Mankato and Jeffrey (Mary) Winkelman of Mankato; and one daughter, Marlee Kramer of Waseca. He is also survived by step-grandson, Matthew (Sydney Sandbo) Kramer; step-great grandson, Cash Kramer; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gertrude (Robert) Fritzke and Gretchen (Frank) Groebner; son-in-law, Ronald Kramer; and grandson, Ryan Winkelman.
Private family services are being held. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Clair. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
