Harlan "Harley" Clarence Bjornson

HARLAN “HARLEY” CLARENCE BJORNSON, age 84 of Alma City, died at his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, April 23, 2021

Born in Pemberton on August 18, 1936, Harley was the son of Clarence “Slivers” and Louise (Sodeman) Bjornson. He attended school in Pemberton and graduated from Pemberton High School. Harlan lived in Hutchinson and worked there as a union carpenter for many years before returning to Alma City. Harley loved polka music, ballroom dancing, gardening and canning (he was widely known for his famous pickles and horseradish), hunting, fishing, and playing games with family and friends, and being around those he loved. He was a long-time member of Medo Lutheran Church before its closure, and he remained a member of the carpenter’s union even after retirement.

Harlan is survived by two children, Cheryl (Bruce) Thompson of Pemberton and Gregg (Karen) Reiter of Westbrook; seven grandgirls, Tina (Gabe) McClain, Laura (Ryan) Fitzloff, Ashley (Nate) Bullerman, Hannah (Aaron) Meyer, Heather (Colin) Geistfeld, Holly (Craig) Gleason, and Heidi (Eric) Larson; fifteen grandchildren, Noah (Briana) Gaffer, Caleb McClain, Riley, Briggs, and Tynley Fitzloff, Landyn, Tassyn, and Clifftyn Bullerman and Brielle Meyer, Hadley, Oswin, Teagen Geistfeld, Caleb Gleason, and Kira and Nylan Larson; and four siblings, Glen (Carole) Bjornson of Hugo, Percy (Debbie) Bjornson of Shakopee, Delilah (Gerald) Kollos of St. James, and JoAnne (Max) Thompson of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, LouElla Schroeder, Lawrence Bjornson, and Viola Gunsolus; and special friend, Carol.

A celebration of Harley’s life will be hosted by his family at Jamie’s Pub in Pemberton on Monday, April 26, 2021 beginning at 3:00PM. Those wishing to send their love may send memorials or other items to Jamie’s Pub on Monday.
