GRANT EDGAR ROEMHILDT, age 80, of rural Elysian, died on Saturday April 23, 2022, at his home with his son by his side.
Born on March 28, 1942, at the family farm to Ortwin and Mary (Wendt) Roemhildt. Grant was baptized as and infant and confirmed in his youth both at St. Peter “Bell” Lutheran Church. He attended St. Peter “Bell” Lutheran Parochial School through 8th Grade. In the early 1970’s Grant was united in marriage to Elaine Stangler and together they had one son and later separated until her untimely passing in 1991. Throughout his life, Grant farmed, worked construction, and ran a milk route among various other side jobs. He also raised pigs, chickens, and cattle. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing. In his early years he rode horses and enjoyed riding snowmobile.
Grant is survived by his long-time companion, Bonnie Lou Michels of Mankato; son: Kevin “Willie” (April) Roemhildt of Owatonna; stepchildren: Shayne Michels of Maple Grove, and Michelle Giroir-Johnson of Brighton, CO; stepdaughter-in-law, Deborah Ginter of Elysian; grandchildren: Alex Lynn Hancock, Ortwin Grant Roemhildt, Frankie Elaine Roemhildt, Mylei Shayna Michels, Sean Giroir, Tonya (Adam) Morsching, and Tara Ginter; and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Jane Moldenhauer of Le Center, Caroline Krueger of Le Center, Ardis Ely of Cleveland, and Orville Roemhildt of Cleveland; and sister-in-law: Carol Roemhildt of Le Center.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepsons: Ed, Allen, and Kenneth “Joe” Ginter; and eight siblings.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services. Interment will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until the time of the service on Thursday.
