GENEVA J. PHILIPP, age 83 of Waseca died on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Janesville Nursing Home.
Born on November 6, 1932 in McCausland, Iowa, she was the daughter of William and Helen (Siver) Schaal.  Geneva graduated from Waterville High School and the Swedish Hospital Nursing School in Minneapolis.  She continued her education and received a degree in Sociology from Mankato State University.  Geneva worked as an RN in health care at numerous places including District 1 Hospital in Faribault, Dr. Ralph Buesgens in Waterville, Owatonna Health Care Center, and Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.  She later did licensed day care.  Geneva married Jean Monson and they were married for 27 years.   Following his death, she married Frank Philipp and he preceded her in death in 2012.  Geneva loved music and sang in the choir and also played violin.  She also did cross stitch and needle work, and enjoyed reading and gardening.   Geneva was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca and volunteered with the Humane Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Gramentz of Amboy and Karen Monson of Kasson; two granddaughters, Mindy (Todd) Golly of Winnebago and their children, Tyler, Thomas, and Gigi, and Skye (Ben) Koch of Gaylord and their children, MJ and Ella.   She is also survived by two brothers, John (Lila) Schaal and Fred (Betty) Schaal both of Waseca and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and one sister, Emily Agnes Schaal.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.   Visitation will be held on Tuesday, one hour before services at the funeral home.
