Florence Louise Cates April 1, 1929 - June 22, 2013

Florence L. Cates, age 84 of Faribault, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Episcopal Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour in Faribault, with the Very Reverend James Zotalis, Dean, officiating. Interment will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.

Florence Louise, was born on April 1, 1929 in Minneapolis to Albert A. and Florence Johnson. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1951. Florence married Dean P. Cates in March of 1950 in Minneapolis. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Faribault.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dean P. Cates of Faribault; children, Mark Cates (and personal friend, Stacy Tuomi) of Pine River, MN, Connie (Jim) Shella of Indianapolis, IN, and Lisa (Jack) Lano of Little Falls, MN; six grandchildren, Dean Cates, Liz Faulstick, Joseph Cates, Katherine Shella, Callie Dobis, and Keegan Shoutz; one great grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Shella.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer''s Treatment and Research Center in memory of Florence.
