Elden E. Stanke, age 58, of Janesville died on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Janesville Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Private family services will be held at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will be held at Smiths Mill Cemetery.

A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor''s choice.

Elden Erhart, son of Erhart and Alpha (Berge) Stanke, was born on October 26, 1956 in St. Paul, MN. He attended Janesville High School. Following his schooling, he began his lifelong career of farming. He was united in marriage to Merry Burhop on August 28, 1981 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake. Elden loved hunting and riding his ATV.

Elden is survived by his wife, Merry Stanke of Janesville; children, Daisy Stanke and Charles Stanke, both of Janesville; grandson, Ashtyn Edwards-Stanke; mother, Alpha Stanke of Janesville; sister, VonDa Britton of Janesville; many nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law; and by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Erhart Stanke in 2005; brothers-in-law, Rick Britton in 2006 and Duane Austinson in 2010; and by his mother and father-in-law, Ercell Burhop in 1991 and Daisy Burhop in 1998.
