Donald M. Huss, age 82 of Faribault, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault with the Rev. Kevin Finnegan, Pastor of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Donald Mathew Huss, the son of Michael and Anna Katherine (Lindenfelser) Huss, was born at their family farm on April 2, 1926 in Bridgewater Township, Rice County, MN. Don served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1945 to 1948. On March 19, 1949 he was united in marriage to Arlene Gray in Minneapolis. After their marriage Don returned to farming and was a life long farmer in Walcott Township. He enjoyed working on his farm and with the animals. He also enjoyed gardening and watching the birds, turkeys and deer that would come to his feeders. Don was a member of the American Legion Post 43 and the V.F.W. Post 1562, both in Faribault. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Arlene Huss of Faribault; by six children, Chuck (Adriana) Huss of Verona, Italy, Greg (Diana) Huss of Virginia, Donna Olson, Julie (Dan) O?Connor, Sand Hagel and Lori (Barry) Davies, all of Faribault; by 22 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren; by five siblings, Mike (Carol) Huss of Wisconsin, Mary (Toby) Gray of Faribault, Theresa Garlie of Backus, MN, Deloris (Tiny) Dremhel of Indiana and Josie Bauernfeind of Minneapolis and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Jenny Truax Erickson and three brothers, Johnny, Frank and Ray Huss.
