Donald "Don" Alan Goltz

DONALD ALAN GOLTZ, age 62 of Janesville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 8, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato as a result of complications following a massive stroke.


Don was born on May 21, 1960 to Melvin & Peg (Dumbeck) Goltz. He graduated from Janesville High School with the class of 1978 and went to work for Morton Buildings in Janesville & Waco, TX. He was united in marriage to Karen Morris on June 2, 1984. They made their home in Janesville where they raised their two daughters. In December of 1986 he began working for Minnesota Elevator Inc. and remained there until his retirement in January 2022. He loved spending time with his family & friends, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and classic cars. He was active in the Smiths Mill-Janesville Sportsman Club where he was a past president, he was a founding member and past president of the Waseca County Chapter of Pheasants Forever, volunteered as a firearms safety instructor for many years, and formerly volunteered with Janesville Fire & Rescue.


He is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Jessica (Phil) Olson and Kirstin (Tim) Burns; five granddaughters Jaelyn and Miah Olson and Maggie, Quinn, and Amelia Burns; and siblings Mary (Kevin) Rathai, Mike (Shelly Hoffman) Goltz, and Dona Petzel. He will also be remembered by his step-father Jerry Schendel; step-brothers Jerry (Renea Robilliard) Schendel, Rich (Annette) Schendel, and Mike (Heidi) Schendel; father-in-law Eugene Morris; and in-laws Colleen (Bob) Warnemunde, Ron (Leta Janda) Morris, and Sue (Derek) Lochner; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Goltz; mother, Peg Schendel; mother-in-law, Carol Morris; and infant grandson, Alan Burns.


Don’s family would like to offer special thanks to the Mayo Clinic Health System ICU team, Neurosurgeon Dr. Megan Murphy, and Kelsey and Gwen for their care and compassion.


Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.


Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023, with Rev. Kristian Bjornstad officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Trinity Lutheran Cemetery – Iosco.
