Deborah J. Thompson August 31, 1949 - July 20, 2015

Debbie Thompson, age 65, of Faribault, MN, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, MN, following an extended illness.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.

Deborah Jane was born on August 31, 1949 in Bismarck, ND to Richard and Elsie (Mueller) Kerr. At an early age her family moved to Owatonna, then Faribault where she was raised. She graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1967 and attended Faribault Vo-Tech for Accounting. Debbie then married Francis Thompson on May 28, 1970 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. With Fran''s occupation they lived in several communities including; Alexandria, Sauk Centre, Montevideo for 20 years, and Windom for 10 years. In 2001, they moved back to Faribault. Debbie was a homemaker for her family and more recently worked as a para-professional for Rice County Day Treatment, helping children with mental health issues. In all of the communities where she lived, Debbie consistently volunteered her time, talent, and treasure to many Catholic organizations, including St. Vincent de Paul in Faribault.

She is survived by her husband, Fran Thompson of Faribault; daughters: Rochelle, (Andy), and grandson, Jake of Minnesota, and Erica (Sam) of Georgia; siblings: Kathy Rubio of Northfield, Mike (Deb) Kerr of Kenyon, and Shirley Agee of St. Paul; father-in- law, Leo Thompson of Faribault; and many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Elsie Schley; and brother, Alvin

Schley.

Memorials may be directed to Homestead Hospice House of Owatonna, American Cancer Society, or St. Vincent de Paul in memory of Debbie.
