DANIEL R. DEEF, age 65 of Minneapolis, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Colony Court in Waseca.
Born on September 25, 1952 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Robert and Romelle (Neidt) Deef. He graduated from Central High School in Waseca in 1970. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and after completion of combat medic training at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX he was stationed in Germany for the next 2 ½ years. He had several temporary duty stations while in Germany. He was stationed at an Army hospital for several months, in the field during Reforger maneuvers on the East/West German border and stationed for a time with a German Fire Dept. at a German airfield as their medical support. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he enrolled at the Minneapolis Area Vocational-Technical Institute in the two-year electrician program. He graduated with honors and then completed a three-year apprenticeship program with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 292. He was a Union Electrician his entire life, working for many different shops in the Minneapolis area. He worked in many areas of the metro including the University of MN, MSP International Airport, and the Mall of America project in Bloomington. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his life-long love of animals.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Romelle Deef of Waseca; brother, David and wife Kathie of Conroe, TX; brother William of Minneapolis, Hiroshi Yoshino of Minneapolis, three aunts, a niece, nephews and cousins.
A private family service will be held at a later date with interment at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
