Daniel James Holthus

Daniel J. Holthus, age 33, of Janesville died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at his home in Janesville.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Larry Griffin and Rev. Paul Muther officiating. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Arrangements are with Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Services ~ Arnoldt Chapel in Janesville.

Daniel James Holthus was born on October 4, 1983 in Waseca to Lane and Dawn (Southwick) Holthus. Dan was a 2001 graduate from Janesville High School where he participated in football and basketball. He furthered his education for one year at South Central Community College in Mankato. Dan was a hard worker, working all through high school and later for various grain elevators. He worked at Big Gain Elevator in Mankato for 8 years, JBS Elevator for 2 years and most recently at Crystal Valley Coop which he truly enjoyed. Dan was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, water skiing, kayaking and especially hunting for deer and ducks. He was a huge Minnesota sports fan. His family fondly remembers him as a kind and considerate young man. He was always friendly and outgoing. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his parents Lane and Dawn of Janesville; brother, Chris of Janesville; grandparents, Don & Anita Southwick of Reeds Lake and Jim Wanous of Owatonna; aunts, uncles, many cousins other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, Lois & Lloyd Holthus and a uncle, Larry Holthus.
