Charles F. Bushma
CHARLES F. BUSHMA, age 81 of Waseca, died on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca.
Born in Chicago on December 9, 1933, Charlie was the son of Louis and Emma (Pechulis) Bushma. He attended grade school and high school in Chicago before graduating from Kelly High School. Charlie was very industrious young man. From the time he was a boy he had a paper route and held various odd jobs. He was stationed with the US Army in France for a time as a military police officer before returning to the states. Throughout the years he drove for Pepsi Cola and later sold insurance for Prudential in Chicago. Charlie moved with his first wife and daughter to Minnesota to purchase and run the Greenland Supper Club in Elysian. Later, On April 6, 1985 he was married to Constance "Connie" Kohnert in Waseca. He was proud to have owned and operated the King Melody and the King Melody II in Waseca for many years. He also owned the Straight River Inn in Hope, operated the 740 Café in St. Paul, and worked at Texaco in Waseca. He was an avid hunter until his health prevented him from continuing that hobby- but even then he continued to enjoy fishing with his family, playing poker with the boys, and he loved to travel with his wife far and wide. Charlie liked to follow the Twins and Vikings, and also loved reading poetry.
Charles is survived by his children, Catherine Jaeger of Victor, ID, Bonita Gehring of Harper, TX, Michelle (Kim) Gehring of North Liberty, IA, Arlan Gehring of Howard Lake, MN, Staci Ignaszewski of Waseca, and Eric (Kelly) Roal of Spokane, WA; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Emeline (Dwight) Hunting of Hilton Head, SC. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife Connie; and one brother, Louis Bushma, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Bardens Bar in Waseca.
