Bernice M. Grinney, age 89, of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Faribault Senior Living. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Hinckley, MN. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Bernice May Williams was born on November 4, 1923 in Hinckley, MN to John H. and Sophia (Harapat) Williams. She grew up in Hinckley, MN and graduated from Good Counsel High School in Mankato, MN. She met Orlyn H. Grinney after WWII and they were married in Hinckley. They moved to Fargo, ND and raised a family of three children before retiring to Mesa, AZ. Bernice loved playing bridge and cooking. She was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed golf. After Orlyn died she moved to Faribault to be closer to family. She is survived by one son, Michael A. (Marvyl) Grinney of Faribault; five grandchildren, Dr. Michael A. Grinney of St. Augustine, FL, Catherine J. Grinney of Faribault, Geoffrey J. Grinney of Salt Lake City, UT, and Kacey and Kelly Hanson of Aurora, CO; and several cousins, nephews, and nieces. She was preceded in death her husband, Orlyn H. Grinney; daughter, Susan K. (Grinney) Hanson; son, John H. Grinney; parents, John and Sophia Williams; and brother, Paul R. Williams. The family prefers that memorials be directed to the donor's choice, Divine Mercy Catholic Church, or Faribault Area Hospice in memory of Bernice.
