Allen "Al" Louie Halstead

ALLEN “AL” LOUIE HALSTEAD, age 59 of Janesville, passed away on the evening of Friday, September 2, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.


Born in Mankato, Minnesota on May 9, 1963, Allen was the son of Lester and Amy (Mealman) Halstead. He attended school in Janesville before graduating form Waldorf-Pemberton High School with the class of 1982. He later continued his education at South Central Technical College. On August 1, 1992, Al was married to Darlene Baker at the Janesville United Methodist Church. A lifelong resident of southern Minnesota, Al owned and operated his own machine shop for many years, which brought him many great friends. He enjoyed watching racing, going mudding, taking hunting and fishing trips with his family, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the NRA, a lifetime member of the Minnesota Darkhouse Association, and later became a member of the Southern Lakes Angling and Spearing Association. He will be dearly missed.


Allen is survived by his wife, Darlene of Janesville; four siblings, Ervin (Sharon) Halstead of Waterville, Peggy (Tom) Reed of Janesville, Diane (Rich Olson) Vogt of Kasota, Darla (Lonny) Zell of Alma City; eleven nieces and nephews, Wendy (Lowell) Bronstad, Fay Abraham, Shannon Jeffries, Becky (Jim) Taylor, Julie Carlson, Jessica (Scott) Uecker, Wesley Vogt, Heather (Dave) Ehlke, Bridget Zell and her significant other Cody Woodard, Jeremy (Jolene) Zell, and Nicholas (Lily) Zell; as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; a brother, Perry Halstead, a brother-in-law, Donald Vogt; a nephew, Bill Halstead; and many friends.


A public visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.


Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Janesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy King officiating. Following a luncheon interment will take place at Tivoli Cemetery near Eagle Lake.
